Everything Literature in 7th Grade
Literary Elements:
- setting (includes time and place)
- characters (main - ones the story is about; secondary)
- problem (what does the character try to resolve)
- rising action (events that tell the plot of the story; events that actually lead up to the turning point)
- climax (turning point in the story; where events reach the most interesting point)
- falling action (events that occur after the climax)
- conclusion (how the problem is resolved)
Required Book Reports for Each Quarter
First Quarter - free choice fiction
Second Quarter - historical or sports fiction
Third Quarter - Rebecca Caudill award nominee book
Fourth Quarter - biography/autobiography/non-fiction
